COVID-19 FAQ At Paradise Medical Group

“When should I get tested for COVID?”

Get tested for COVID-19 if you have been exposed to someone who has tested positive or if you have COVID-19 symptoms. COVID-19 symptoms include,

  • Fever or chills
  • Cough
  • Shortness of breath or difficulty breathing
  • Fatigue
  • Muscle or body aches
  • Headache
  • New loss of taste or smell
  • Sore throat
  • Congestion or runny nose
  • Nausea or vomiting
  • Diarrhea

Not all symptoms will present at one time and different people experience different symptoms. It is important to get tested as soon as possible if you have the symptoms noted above.

At Paradise Medical Group we have a rapid COVID-19 test reserved for patients who have symptoms. This will allow you to know your diagnosis as quickly as possible—but until your diagnosis, isolate!

COVID-19 FAQ At Paradise Medical Group

“Can I go to work if I have symptoms?”

If you have COVID-19 symptoms, you should stay at home and stay away from other people (isolate). This will prevent others from being exposed to the virus if you are positive. Schedule a COVID-19 test with PMG or at a testing center of your choosing. Wait for your test results. If you have a positive test result, you must remain in isolation. You can end isolation 10 days after symptom onset and at least 24 hours after resolution of fever and improvement of other symptoms.

“Can I go to work if I had a positive test but do not have symptoms?”

If you have a positive test but no symptoms, you still need to remain in isolation for 10 days after you receive your first positive test. People who have a positive test but no symptoms are referred to as “asymptomatic” and may still pass the virus on to others.

“Are COVID-19 Symptoms like flu symptoms?”

Some COVID-19 symptoms are seen with the flu. The Center for Disease Control has provided the common symptoms that they share:

  • Fever or feeling feverish/having chills
  • Cough
  • Shortness of breath or difficulty breathing
  • Fatigue (tiredness)
  • Sore throat
  • Runny or stuffy nose
  • Muscle pain or body aches
  • Headache
  • Vomiting and diarrhea
  • Change in or loss of taste or smell, although this is more frequent with COVID-19.

If you have COVID-19 symptoms, you should isolate and get tested.

“Should I get the flu shot?”

Get a flu shot at your next PMG appointment or schedule a flu shot at our next drive-thru clinic. At PMG we have the high-dose flu shot, which is reserved for seniors and high-risk individuals. You can also request a flu shot at a local pharmacy.
